Night HIVAIDS prevention among commercial sex workers

In view the continued progression of the epidemic, and given the role of prostitutes both as victims and transmitters of the virus, much needs to be done to reduce the chances of multiplying the virus among other members of the society too. The peer educators who have been recruited from the CSWs themselves were given training and engaged in educating the CSWs, the clients of the CSWs as well as other members of the community about HIV/AIDS, STIs, condom and related issues in conjunction with a drama - and music group that complements their activities. An assessment made among the peer educators and the CSWs to see the success of the program revealed the fact that the night educational programs have made a contributions toward behavioral modification serving both as a preventive strategy and as a vital information delivery method for CSWs, among their clients and other members of the community at large. Furthermore, the fact that the educational activities were conducted right at the place where the transaction between the CSWs and their clients takes place has made it more acceptable.
