Zn(II)-Co(III)-Fe(III) multi-metal cyanide complexes as highly active catalysts for ring-opening polymerization of propylene oxide

摘要
`To develop multi-metal cyanide (MMC) catalysts, aqueous ZnCl2 was reacted with aqueous Co-III and/or Fe-III cyanide salts in the presence of 'BuOH as a complexing agent. The MMC-catalyzed PO polymerization behavior was shown to be tunable by a suitable combination of Co-III and Fe-III cyanide salts. The induction period and activation temperature of the polymerization, as well as the level of unsaturation, molecular weight, molecular weight distribution and viscosity of the resulting polyols can be tuned.
