The Influence of Clothing Fit Based on Fabric Style

Clothing fit is the extent of the fit between the garment and the human body, and is widely considered to be one of the most important single factor of the appearance of clothing. And physical and mechanical performance of fabrics is one of the important factors of fit. This paper researched the relationship between the mechanical properties of fabric and clothing fit. Seven different fabrics were chosen, and measured the fabrics style using the KES style instrument, then 16 performance value of fabrics were gained. Two girl students in university were chosen as models, in the process of wearing, two models were requested to keep static postures and do dynamic postures. Then the scores of fit subjective assessments of fit were gained. After that, this paper analyzed the correlation between the performance of fabric and fit, and found tensile characteristics and pure bending characteristics influence the clothing fit significantly. Finally, the conclusion was obtained that softness, elasticity and good ability of recovering form bending are three main factors of making highly comfortable and fit cloth.
