Performing Multi-Criteria Analysis to Solve Municipal Solid Waste Management Problems

摘要
The actual paper provides an overview of the actual challenges encountered in municipal solid waste management (MSWM) in west region of Romania, respectively introduction of new collection systems by local/county authorities. Due to the social environmental debates, problems in waste management have become more and more complex, also into the context of increasing volumes of waste produced during recent decades. The research team identifies new approaches for possible solutions to improve municipal solid waste (MSW) services. Waste management, contrary to practice majority, it is considered an integrator of logistics services where collection, transport, treatment and disposal of waste together needs to be monitored and respect strict regulation. The research team presents a literature review on multi-criteria decision aiding in waste management problems and developed a framework decision for municipal solid waste management (MSWM). This paper presents an analytical hierarchical process (AHP), decision support tool for municipal solid waste management, namely the research team is trying to qualify possible alternatives based on the AHP method. The research team has managed to identify a list of alternatives that were placed in AHP in order to select the best solution. AHP is used to incorporate the relative importance of different impact criteria into the key stakeholders' preference decision scheme. Such approach may he used as an objective tool to mediate the inherent conflicts that arise between the key stakeholders and affect the implementation of proposed new systems.
