摘要
As a carrier of real-time communications, the internet has been substantially grown much more than the past. Communication data monitoring is used to ensure the communication quality and reduce the problem and then make the communications improve continuously. Network traffic monitoring is the fundamental task of understanding network behavior. To date, all kinds of standards and methods have been implemented for a long time. Active detection is used to measure the network and the passive detection is used to measure the throughput of network. This paper describes a new traffic monitoring method based on field-programmable gate array technology, the method provide a next-generation internet monitoring method which with the virtue of high-speed and programmable. This paper also made two monitoring functions which can be implemented in this method. The duty of this method is to increase network efficiency and calculation of additional statistics based on the characteristics of Internet traffic monitoring. These very two features explain how flexible the structure is and indicate it's intelligent and on-demand monitoring. The first duty of this method is to classify the network based on the size and speed of traffic, and the second duty is to measure the burst traffic.
