Study on sediment transport in canal of irrigation system

摘要：
Based on field data, conditions for sediment transport in irrigation canals are given by analyzing vertical profiles of sediment concentrations. Transport characteristics of sediment with different grain sizes and their effects on deposition are further analyzed. It is pointed out that the deposition in canals is mainly caused by coarse particles (>0.05mm). Several formulas for sediment transport capacity are compared, and finally a formula suitable for Bojili Irrigation District is suggested.
