摘要
Discourse psychology has used propositions to answer both functional and structural questions regarding mental representations that best reflect the result from bottom-up and top-down processes in language comprehension. But propositions as used in discourse psychology are not the same as the traditional use of the term in fields like linguistics and philosophy. Moreover, propositions in discourse psychology do not operate at the desired language level and lack important representational features. It wilt be claimed that entities like eventualities and thematic roles are more appropriate to be used in psycholinguistics and computational linguistics and that the use of these entities can solve the problems that arise in propositionalizing texts in the traditional way.
