摘要
The present paper allows for further understanding of riser dynamics, resorting to non-linear modal analysis techniques. Non-linear modes may play an important role in the faithful structural representation of deep-water risers by models with a small number of degrees of freedom. In this initial work, only the structural dynamics is taken into account and focus is placed on the evaluation of non-linear normal modes. A vertical riser is firstly treated and then a free-hanging catenary is addressed.
