摘要
Thirumalaisamy et al. (J Mater Sci Mater Electron 26:6683, 2015), erroneously characterized a variable chemical composition of their solid solution as Ca1-xYbxF2, whereas its chemical formula should be Ca1-xYbxF2+x. As a result, Thirumalaisamy et al. calculations do not account for the additional fluoride ions that are necessary to compensate the excessive positive charge of ytterbium cations that replace calcium.
