摘要
The construction industry has witnessed a steady increase in the scope and complexity of information technology (IT) systems and applications in order to promote IT capability and help companies deliver core capability. However, developing corporate capability requires managers to fundamentally re-assess their approach to recruitment, performance appraisal and training policies (in order to maximise any benefits offered by IT). This is particularly important, as companies are now starting to build skills and competence (often termed "intellectual capital") into their capacity-building infrastructure in order to meet their current and future business requirements. Therefore, training, corporate culture, and organisational learning, are important facets of this process that therefore need careful consideration. This research identifies the key issues, requirements, deliverables and constraints associated with the deployment of IT training in a construction environment. A process protocol IT training model (GAPP-IT) is presented and discussed as an exemplar.
