摘要
A metamaterial-inspired, efficient, electrically small antenna (ESA) is designed for the 2 to 20 MHz range, intended for use in a mobile Ionospheric Heating (MIH) system. The ESA consists of two main parts: a small semi-loop antenna (SLA), and an outer capacitively loaded loop (CLL). To increase the capacitance of the CLL and reduce the size of the ESA, a high permittivity dielectric is utilized. All designs were simulated in Ansoft HFSS with particular attention on radiation efficiency and bandwidth. The design aims for these ESAs are a high overall efficiency at dimensions much smaller than a wavelength.
