Effect of hyperhomocysteinemia on endothelial activation and dysfunction in patients with end-stage renal disease

摘要
Total plasma homocysteine concentration was elevated in patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD), and concentrations of thrombomodulin, von Willebrand factor, intercellular adhesion molecule-1, vascular cell adhesion molecule-1, and E-selectin were significantly higher in patients with hyperhomocysteinemia or ESP-D. Hyperhomocysteinemia in patients with ESRD induces endothelial activation and dysfunction, and may contribute to atherogenesis.
