Filling simulation and gas penetration modeling for gas-assisted injection molding

摘要
Numerical simulation and experimental studies concerning melt flow and gas penetration of gas-assisted injection molding are conducted. Considering the influence of gas penetration on melt flow only as boundary conditions of melt filling region, a hybrid finite-element/finite-difference method similar to conventional injection molding simulation is used in the gas-assisted injection molding filling simulation. And the gas penetration interface within the gas-channel is solved by applying the matching asymptotic expansion method, which educes an analytical model of the gas penetration thickness ratio. Finally, an experiment is employed to verify this proposed model and solution, by comparing the results of the experiment with the simulation. (C) 2003 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
