Premature delivery in Albania and the challenges of a developing country

The aim of this study was to understand the development of causes and risk factors of premature delivery (PD), and the high mortality rates of premature deliveries despite the new health policies, changes on the causes structure and financial support to the neonatology service. In this study were collected all the data from the previous researches on premature delivery in Albania since 1946. The results were mainly based on the two major serious researches on premature delivery. We concluded that despite political and social changes of our country, improvement of living condition and health policies, technology advances and implementation of new and contemporary services of neonatology, the incidence of premature delivery has remained in high levels.
