Prolog To: A Survey of Trust and Reputation Management Systems in Wireless Communications Introduction

The trust and reputation management systems have been used in three types of wireless communications that includes mobile ad hoc networks (MANET), wireless sensor networks (WSN), and cognitive radio networks (CRN). The main factors that need to be considered while incorporating trust and reputation into wireless communication systems are that the model should enable the nodes to infer the behaviors of other nodes and the framework must contain both a trust and reputation model and the protocol for nodes to interact. A node must be able to modify its interaction strategy with other nodes to maximize its gains and it must be able to acquire and filter indirect information from other nodes reliably. An effective system-level trust model should include punitive measures in its interaction protocols to deter selfish or malicious behaviors. An emerging area of research covers bioinspired computational techniques used to evaluate node reputation in wireless communication systems.
