Insurance Markets of the Southeast Asian Nations: Current Trends and Opportunities for Russian Insurance Business

The article is devoted to problems of the Russian reinsurance market in connection with its low capacity and political situation, which has a negative influence on RF insurance business. The author examines current situation in the Asian insurance market and perspectives of its use as an as an alternative to the EU and the USA markets. Insufficient capacity is one of the problems of the domestic reinsurance market. The imposition of the sanctions regime further exacerbated this problem by limiting the ability of Russian reinsurers to acquire reinsurance protection in the markets of the EU and US countries. The article shows the trends that have developed over the last year in the insurance markets of the countries of the Asian region, and considers the prospects for its use as an alternative to the traditional markets of Europe.
