PSYCHOLOGICAL AND BEHAVIOR ASPECTS REGARDING INTERNET ADDICTION

This study has investigated the psychological and behavior differences between students who are addicted of using internet and the ones who are not, measuring depression, anxiety and aggressive behavior. The sample group tested had 185 students, 100 considered addicted by the high score according to Young's Internet Addiction Scale and 85 were in the control group. Instruments: Aggression Questionnaire; Depression Scale; Hamilton Anxiety Scale. Results show meaningful differences between students who are addicted to internet and the ones who do not suffer from this disorder, regarding the level of depression, aggressive behavior and ratings of generalized anxiety. These findings indicate several negative changes appearing in the dependent students, very similar with the ones in the classic addictions.
