BOVINE VIRAL DIARRHEA (BVD) is a complex of diseases associated with infection by BVD virus (BVDV). BVDV infection is widespread and common.(1,2) It occurs in most parts of the world where cattle are raised. Clinical disease is most often seen in cattle, but it also may occur in other species such as small ruminants and pigs.(1-3) This article presents information on the transmission of BVDV between and within herds and on properties of the virus that influence its rate of spread.
