摘要
The green technology's main objective is to protect the environment from the harmful effects that technology sometimes brings. Green technology has taken off in Malaysia, but not all information technology companies in the country see its long-term benefits. Most of the green computing initiatives have concentrated on innovating hardware and little attention has been paid to the software aspect. This paper shows how software reusability can promote green computing and to illustrate this point, the quantitative analysis method is used to analyze data from questionnaires distributed among the employees of IT companies in Malaysia. Three commonly adopted software reusability dimensions by the IT companies which are design patterns, component-based development and application frameworks are studied. The result of regression analysis shows a significant relationship of software reusability associated with green computing. Green computing is linked to software reusability with the following equation: Green Computing = 0.827 + 0.657 (Software Reusability), implying that one unit increase in software reusability is expected to increase green computing 657 units.
