摘要
Ad hoc wireless networks consist of mobile hosts that can communicate with each other over the wireless links without establishing basestations. Each host is battery powered, which makes energy conservation a major concern. Due to the nature of broadcast, it is frequently used in ad hoc wireless networks. Many algorithms have been put forward to reduce the energy consumption in broadcast, namely the ones using dominating sets and the ones using flexible transmission ranges. [8] presents two energy efficient broadcast algorithms (RTCP and RBOP) using flexible transmission ranges based on Relative Neighborhood Graph (RNG). The RNG constructed from the original graph G actually defines an edge removal rule, which we believe can be improved. In this paper, we put forward our edge removal rule and use simulations to show that using it with the two broadcast algorithms can further reduce energy consumption.
