摘要
Objective: One of the most common endocrine disorders in women of reproductive age is polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). A sedentary lifestyle and lack of nutritious food can directly be associated with the growing prevalence of PCOS in adolescence and young adults. Lack of exercise, weight gain, obesity, disordered eating, and compensatory behavior can contribute to metabolic problems and affect the psychological tendencies that are high in the Indian urban population. The study investigated and predicted the association between compensatory health beliefs and self-efficacy among adolescence diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome. Method: A total of 100 girls, from the age group of 16-18 (late adolescence) were included in the study. Results: The findings showed a significantly high correlation between compensatory health beliefs and self-efficacy. It also stated compensatory health beliefs account for 49% of the variance in predicting self-efficacy. Conclusion: Future potential research with PCOS groups may involve compensatory health actions and attitudes to understand the beliefs associated with detrimental or beneficial health consequences. Educating PCOS patients about compensatory health beliefs and their impact on psychological tendencies would help them maintain a healthy lifestyle.
