An event study of the development of Pc 2-5 pulsations and their connection with geomagnetic storms using statistical techniques has been carried out. Use has been made of records from the Grocka Observatory (geomagnetic latitude Phi=43.4 degrees N, LT=UT+1 h) and from a temporary station (Phi=41 degrees N). It was found that for the geomagnetic storm that occurred on 20 August 1979 there were well-developed pulsations. The pulsation characteristics are related to the structure and dynamics of disturbed solar-terrestrial media. Morphological and spectral characteristics of pulsations were correlated with IMF and solar wind speed. (C) 1998 COSPAR. Published by Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
