Rosai-Dorfman disease - A case report

Rosai Dorfman disease (sinus histiocytosis with massive lymphadenopathy) encompasses a group of diverse disorders with the common primary event of 'accumulation and infiltration of the monocytes, macrophages and dendritic cells in the affected tissue' by histiocytes. The clinical presentation varies greatly ranging from nodal to extranodal manifestations and mild symptoms to life threatening complications. Here we report a 29-year-old male, who presented to us with complaints of swelling in both sides of neck with no other major symptomatology. FNAC done twice were inconclusive. Histopathological examination was diagnostic of Rosai Dorfman disease. Patient responded well to systemic steroid.
