Recent price trends for non-timber forest products in the Pacific Northwest

Many of the industries that comprise the non-timber forest products (NTFPs) market in the Pacific Northwest have existed since the early 1900s. NTFPs have recently been receiving more attention from land managers and researchers. There is very little information about year-to-year prices for products within the different industries, so although large general trends can be discussed, specific prices and industry trends are not well understood. This paper defines the NTFP industry segments, discusses some of the history and markets in the various industries, and presents a price series dating back to 1989.
