The demand for applications and services of Information Technology has exceeded that of voice transmission. Anticipating the demand for Value Added IT Services, Asia Pacific countries are quickly striving to introduce catalyst programs that utilize the provisioning of bandwidth transmission. Malaysia introduced Malaysia Super Corridor, Singapore with Singapore One, and Indonesia launched the concept of Nusantara 21. Nusantara 21 actualizes the vision of Indonesia to enter the new information era as an essential part of the global information community. As a diverse community that is spread all over Indonesia, Nusantara 21 will become the national information infrastructure that connects all the 27 province capitals, and to regional and global in information infrastructure. Through the implementation of Nusantara 21 concept, Indonesia expects to be one of the leading countries in the information industry, The main objective behind the effort is to build a competitive human resources foundation that will assist in facing the imminent global competition charaterized by a global and borderless communities. Currently, Information Technology and internet are not yet very popular and deemed to be relatively new service. Although the number of internet customers is currently quite small, only 120,000 customers, will a total market of more than 200 million citizen, Indonesia is considered to still command a great demand potential to Value Added IT Services. The Government is not only developing the concept of Nusantara 21, but also preparing supporting regulations to anticipate the industry needs in the information era. Although the private sectors plays a prominent role, the Government is still needed as a catalyst.
