摘要
This paper presents the design and implementation of an abstract and persistent data structure as an enhancement to the Java programming language. The data structure is called sparse array and is intended to facilitate concurrent database processing for multiple remote clients by a server. It is implemented using Java threads in a client/server environment on top of a database engine. The motivation behind this enhancement to Java is to provide programmers with an abstract and persistent data structure in an object-oriented environment. The data structure protects concurrent users from the design and implementation of persistent data access and storage methods. In addition to abstract operations for data manipulation, this enhancement provides functionality that synchronizes concurrent database processing by multiple users.
