摘要
This paper reports on a study of information search and use of information among 360 Computer Science and Information Technology final year students of the rmation are utilised. Faculty of Information Science and Technology, University of Malaya. The study was carried out in relation to their Final Year Project in which the students are expected to search, evaluate and synthesized the information gathered. Two models were developed to explain the search and use of information and the various intervening variables that influence the process. Variables such as academic scores, gender, geographical background and programmes of study proved to be supportive or preventive. The models would have implications for information professionals involved in the management of information services and information literacy education. Although respondents are IT savvy, other skills such as organizing, evaluation, synthesis, communication and awareness of intellectual property are equally essential in order for them to be information literate.
