摘要
Indirect rapid tooling processes, such as ceramic block moulding and investment casting are used for different industrial applications. Starting from a CAD file, a rapid prototyping model is produced using a rapid prototyping process, selected considering the type of the tool to be obtained. After this stage, using a direct conversion process, lost quick cast by investment casting, or indirect conversion process with ceramic block mouldings, zamak metallic tools are produced. In this work, a rigorous dimensional, roughness and costs control is performed in all process stages, in order to able to predict the overall shrinkage of the two processes analysed. Knowing these values, it is possible to integrate in the CAD file the finishing allowances, and produce prototype accurate tools for high demanding industries.
