摘要
Overhead power lines make use of a number of different structures to support the conductors ranging from self-supported, guyed towers, poles and other types. The construction of these lines arc costly and the construction techniques utilised differ. Consequently, the mobile crane has established itself as a popular choice for the erection of these structures unfortunately with a significant cost. Therefore, alternative and more economical erection methods are reviewed in this paper with specific emphasis on gin poles and winches but also includes novel methods yet to be implemented like air cushions and a degree of automation for lifting guyed V-towers. Also, different lifting configurations are objectively compared and selection of the most suitable method to achieve this is undertaken. The work presented here is part of a larger study involving the development of a numerical tool for the safe erection of guyed V-towers devoid of cranes.
