Journal Issues of Theory and Practice of Journalism in the Academic Media Space

The article presents the findings of the analysis of the ten-year review of the research published in the academic journal "Issues of Theory and Practice of Journalism". The study addresses the questions of how successful the journal has been, its role in communication between researchers in the scientific field of "Mass Communication. Journalism. MEDIA". The study employed statistical analysis of an extensive database of all articles published in the journal over the period of ten years. The main scientific metric indicators of the journal and their dynamics are given. We revealed the changes of the following indicators: a two-year impact factor of the journal for the entire period of its existence; data on citation of articles published in the journal, data on authors, a five-year Herfindahl index for citing journals and organizations of authors; a ten-year Hirsch index, demand for journal articles in the scientific community; number of issues, number of articles, average size of an article (number of pages), structure of affiliated authors of articles of the journal Issues of Theory and Practice of Journalism by scientific status and structure of authors - doctors and candidates of sciences in scientific specialties, structure of titles of the journal Issues of Theory and Practice of Journalism. We found that the scientific metric indicators of the journal show constant growth. The authors of the journal represent vast geography, high status and various academic majors. The journal consistently follows a policy of careful consideration of all articles, "blind" review by at least two experts, and through editing of each potential publication. The list of headings in the journal is a flexible tool for updating the issues that arise in the theory and practice of journalism. The journal is built as a platform not only for scientific communication at the interregional, international and regional levels, but also for scientific "roll call" between representatives of different scientific fields - both socio-humanitarian and mathematical.
