Differences that develop over time as a result of laboratory and field curing conditions in the chemical nature of monolithic waste samples are assessed in this paper. During field placement of waste treated using stabilization/solidification, a number of sub-samples were taken and cured under laboratory conditions. These samples were evaluated periodically using a battery of laboratory test methods in parallel with samples removed from the landfill by diamond core. The results indicate that, although the field-cured material was cured under very different conditions, the chemical mature of the solidified matrix is quite similar to samples cured under laboratory conditions after 2 years.
