Design of miniaturized on-body antennas for dual band implant antenna communication

摘要
Advances in wireless communication technologies and electronics devices for these fields have enabled the development of antenna designs that have low power consumption, miniature in size and can communicate in short distances. In this paper, two on-body antenna design are presented for wireless transmission with a dual band implant antenna. The proposed antennas are miniaturized 6 x 5.7 x 1.3 mm(3) and 5.8 x 5.5 x 0.8 mm(3) (width x height x thickness mm3) with self-similar and space filling design characteristics. Proposed antenna are designed by applying serpentine geometry around hexagonal and circular shapes. Battery life could he extended due to the dual band communication option of the device. On-body antennas' transmission characteristics are analysed while communicating with the implant antenna which are placed in a tissue model which composed of skin, fat and muscle layers. Here, dual mode tackling operation on-body antennas are presented for wireless body area network with satisfactory performance characteristics.
