Sustainable product development by considering the environmental consequences

摘要
Sustainability in the products development is a strategy that is widely accepted in principle, although not yet widely practiced The integration of environmental requirements throughout the entire life time of a product needs a new way of thinking and new decision tools to be applied. This paper presents a study case using Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) principles in order to give an overview on the most important sources of environmental impacts of the product. Some aspects concerning the comparisons of two similar products by meaning of redesign solutions are also discussed, but the paper is focused on the integrating LCA concept, rather than on the details of the methodologies.
