HEALTH EDUCATION IN LICENSING COURSES IN PHYSICAL EDUCATION: AN APPROACH TO STATE PUBLIC UNIVERSITIES

The exploratory descriptive study aimed to list as subjects related to health education in Physical Education Degree courses of Brazilian state public universities. As documented sources were the pedagogical projects of the Physical Education undergraduate courses of state public universities in Brazil, which presented a set of disciplines related to health or that meet the following terms: health, quality of life, physical activity, lifestyle, physical exercise, promotion, prevention and disease. Of the 29 university campuses that were investigated, 271 subjects related to the search terms, 94 of which are taught at the university campus in the Southeast, 86 Northeast, 49 South, 33 Midwest and 9 North. It is concluded that regardless of the discipline, health can be considered as a transversal content in school curricula and be included in the Physical Education degree courses of Brazilian universities.
