HPTLC method for determination of acteoside in ribwort plantain (Plantago lanceolata L.)

摘要
A sensitive thin layer chromatographic method has been established for quantification of acteoside in the leaves of Plantago lanceolata. Chromatographic separation was performed on silica gel HPTLC plates with ethyl acetate-formic acid-water, 18 + 1 + 1 (v/v), as mobile phase. The plates were scanned densitometrically at lambda = 334 nm. The method was validated for precision, repeatability, and accuracy. It was found to be precise - intra-day and inter-day RSD were 0.58 and 2.0%, respectively. Instrumental precision and repeatability of the method were found to be 0.62 and 1.5 (%CV), respectively. The accuracy was checked by studying recovery at three levels; average recovery was 102.3%. The method was used for estimation of acteoside in the leaves of Plantago lanceolata and was confirmed to be suitable for the determination of these compounds in the drug.
