Consistency maintenance in real-time collaborative image editing systems

摘要
Consistency maintenance is one of the major problems in collaborative editing systems. Some work has been done to resolve this problem, but most of them focus on text editing and object-based graphics editing systems. In this paper, we propose a new schema to resolve the consistency maintenance problem for image-based collaborative graphics editing systems. First three inconsistency problems exist in image-based collaborative graphics editing systems are investigated. Then formal image Boolean calculation definitions, characterization of the relationship among image operations, and image operation transformation definitions are given. Finally, a new distributed Image Operation Transformation (dIOPT) algorithm is proposed to achieving consistency preservation in image-based collaborative graphics editing systems. The schema and algorithm are realized in CoDesign - a prototype system of collaborative graphics editing.
