Oil spill detection using spaceborne SAR; a brief review.

摘要
Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) has for several years been used for ocean phenomena monitoring. SAR data from the ERS-1/2 satellites provide detailed images of the sea surface. Modulation of the Bragg waves by ocean phenomena such as natural films, oil spills, grease ice, rain cells, internal waves, current convergence and upwelling, may lead to dark features in the SAR image called slicks. To discriminate between oil slicks and slicks caused by other phenomena, properties of oil and its characteristics in SAR imagery is reveiwed.
