摘要
The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) has partnered with the union County Utilities Authority (UCUA) to establish a demonstration project for the collection and demanufacturing of consumer electronic appliances (CEA) generated within Union County, N.J. Obsolete electronic products are used to generate components for the manufacture of new products, with benefits including diversion of CEA from the UCUA incinerator (with attendant reductions in lead and cadmium emissions by the facility), management of these items as a universal waste - thereby controlling the metals found in CEA in an environmentally sound manner, job creation, and potential savings in operations and maintenance costs at the Union County Resource Recovery facility.
