Influence of inter-bit four-wave mixing in optical TDM transmission

摘要
The authors investigate the influence of inter-bit four-wave mixing on optical time division multiplexed transmission. The effect is caused by pulse broadening due to fibre dispersion and four-wave mixing between overlapped pulses. The authors also confirm this effect experimentally and show that there is an optimum pulsewidth to reduce both four-wave mixing and self-phase-modulation effects.
