摘要
The article focuses on the Law number 10.639/2003 and seeks to identify how the teaching of Afro-Brazilian History and Culture is being guaranteed through actions that have Afro-Brazilian literature in its elaboration. In order to do so, it presents, at first, a historical background of the process of insertion of Afro-descendents in literature and after that a discussion about the nomenclatures literature and Afro-Brazilian literature. Finally, it presents an exploratory research, carried out in a city in the metropolitan region of Porto Alegre, to identify how the Law was understood and implemented in this context. The research allows us to affirm that the secretaries of education, along with other organs of public power, hove an important role in guaranteeing education for ethnic-racial relations.
