Canonical decomposition of magnetotelluric impedance tensor and geological meaning of the parameters

摘要
Because of the limitations of the ordinary analysis methods for magnetotelluric impedance tensor, we can't get satisfying results. The canonical decomposition may be the best method to deal with 3-D dimensional MT impedance, and has more estimated appliance, because a set of integrated parameters can be picked-up unartifically by means of this method. In this paper, we analyze and test the method as canonical decomposition, make a suitable modification on parameter formula, make an analysis on the relationship and difference between canonical decomposition and coordinate circumrotation. The geological meaning of the parameter are discussed.
