ENERGY SECURITY AND CLIMATE CHANGE IN VIETNAM

Vietnam is one of the countries most vulnerable to climate change and will face significant impacts from it in the future. Although renewable energy contributes toclimate change mitigation, the sources are the ones most vulnerable to it at the same time. Since a significant part of electricity generation is ensured by hydropower, providing stable and reliable energy supplies supporting economic growth, is crucial for Vietnam. The main aim of this paper is to analyse the impacts of drought, as one of the main features of climate change, on Vietnam's energy sector and to assess the options of replacing hydropower deficit in the context of energy security.
