摘要
The Asian Monsoon is one of Earth's major climatic zones, and its past history is of prime interest to paleoclimatologists interested in disentangling the various forcings that have controlled its strength over time. With the iconic speleothem (cave calcite) records from oxygen isotopes (d18O) now reaching back 650,000 years (Cheng et al., 2016), much attention has focused on the origins of the Asian Monsoon variations. The speleothem records showed a strong control Earth's 23,000 year orbital precession cycle on variations in d18O, and these isotope variations in turn have been interpreted as proxies of monsoon processes.
