摘要
Reduced hatchability was investigated in a commercial hatchery. Escherichia coli were isolated in pure culture from dead-in-shell embryos, fluff samples and dead breeder hens. Eighteen E. coli isolates were characterized based on Congo red binding serum sensitivity, mannose sensitivity resistance, haemolysis and resistogram pattern to certain chemicals. The isolates were sero-grouped into 0(08), 0(15), 0(22), 0(88), 0(102), 0(106), 0(162) and a few were untypable. Based on in vitro drug sensitivity assay, chloramphenicol was found to be the most sensitive (50%) drug.
