摘要
Using foster children's files, a study was conducted of the prevalence of placement breakdown and the factors associated with this for 99 placements of children with intellectual disability (ID) in long-term foster care. The results showed that placement breakdown percentages did not differ from published figures for regular foster care. Three risk factors identified at the start of the placement - age, conduct disorder and kinship care - correlated with placement outcome. The severity of problem behaviour of children with ID did not differ from that of children of normal intelligence in regular foster care. Placement breakdown in kinship foster care correlated with a greater risk of abuse of the foster child.
