Constraints and possibilities of adaptive antennas for wireless broadband

摘要
The communication aspects of having multiple element arrays in a scattering environment are discussed. The angular spreading of the signals in the mobile environment leads to a number of independent channels, which may give rise to increased spectral efficiency depending on the propagation conditions. Simple models of random scatterers are used to show the significance of size, distance and polarization. Since polarization remains orthogonal even with zero angular spread, it is advantageous to have polarization diversity.
