摘要
Canine leishmaniasis (CanL) is traditionally endemic in central and southern Italy. From early '90s new stable foci of CanL have appeared, most of them located within classical endemic areas. But the most relevant aspect has been the appearance of stable CanL foci in northern Italy, namely in Veneto and Piedmont regions. This note reports the results of a serological and entomological surveillance carried out in known CanL foci and suspected new autochthonous ones in north-eastern Italy (Veneto and Trentino-Alto Adige regions) from 2001 to spring 2004. The results show that the already known focus in Verona province is spreading towards western and eastern areas, while a new focus is establishing in Trento province.
