Dynamic Impairment-Aware Provisioning based on Quadratic Model in All Optical Networks

摘要
Routing and Wavelength Assignment (RWA) is the most concern in wavelength routed all optical networks. This paper proposes a dynamic impairment aware RWA scheme inspired by the idea of binary quadratic programming formulation for the static RWA problem. In this method, links wavelength occupancy information is collected to be used, in order to establish the upcoming calls via adaptive routing technique. Calculated light-paths' quality are estimated before establishing based on the developed model for some linear physical layer impairments. Performance evaluation results confirm that the proposed impairment aware quadratic programming based RWA (IAQP-RWA) is capable of reducing the blocking rate. Besides, average network throughput in addition to average channel utilization is increased as well. Moreover, proposed algorithm is able to balance the load in the network more successfully, compared to existing shortest path RWA (SP-RWA) and minimum hop RWA (MH-RWA) solutions.
