摘要
This paper addresses the problem of estimating the population mean of the study variable y using information on the auxiliary variable x in double sampling for stratification. A general class of product-cum-ratio-type estimators have been defined in this paper. The properties of the suggested class of estimators are studied up to terms of order O(n(-1)). Asymptotic optimum estimator (AOE) in the class is also identified. In particular, to illustrate the general results, we have suggested a subclass of estimators (sic)((1)) along with its properties. Preference regions are obtained in which the proposed estimator (sic)((1)) is better than the existing estimators. In support of the present study, an empirical study is also carried out.
