Fabrication and properties of Al/Ti3SiC2 composites

摘要
Al/Ti3SiC2 composites were fabricated by the pressureless sintering powder mixtures of Al and Ti3SiC2. The effect of sintering temperature and the ratio of raw materials on interfacial reaction were also studied. Simultaneous sinter process, microhardness, density, friction and wear properties of composites were investigated. The experimental results showed that Si, which is dissolved in the molten metal Al, induced the reaction between Al and Ti3SiC2 in the 700 degrees C similar to 800 degrees C temperature range; Microhardness of composites, which was lower than single-phase polycrystalline Ti3SiC2, decreased with Al content increasing and the friction and wear properties were optimized for homogeneous deformation of Al interface.
